Despite the current uncertainties, we are delighted applications are still coming in and so pleased we are able to help our next grant recipient; Amy from Middlesex, with her Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition. The Duke of Edinburgh scheme played such a big part in developing Andrew’s love of the outdoors and we are proud to help others like Amy to enjoy and benefit from the scheme.
Amy’s expedition is currently planned for October 2020 but, understandably given these difficult times, may be subject to change depending on how current circumstances develop. Regardless, Amy is determined to view her expedition as simply a matter of ‘when’!
From the supporting comments and references in Amy’s application, Amy’s selflessness and willingness to help others immediately registered with us and seemed a great match to our founding ideals. As a member of the Army cadets, Amy partakes in various different charity fundraising events and community projects. Amy also volunteers at her school as mentor to vulnerable younger students, acting as a safe person to talk to under the ‘Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service’ programme (CAMHS) with the NHS. In recognition of all her hard work and helping others, Amy is well deserved recipient of the Diana award. An absolutely fantastic achievement by Amy and if you are not familiar with the award or all the great work done by the charity please do check out the link: https://diana-award.org.uk/
Please join us in wishing Amy every success and we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for October.
